 Program Goals

Main Street Lancaster and the Special Improvement District are non-profit 501 © 3 organizations that focus on the over-all vitality of the City of Lancaster! Both organizations work in tandem to promote revitalization, beautification, preservation and planning for the future of our greatest local asset, Historic Downtown Lancaster. Each project or community event is a combination of countless volunteer hours, capital improvement dollars from property owners, and generous donations from individuals and local businesses. Here are just some of the plans and projects from 2008-2009:

  • Renewal of the Special Improvement District Assessment for 2009-2013
  • Revision, Education, and Training on the New Design Guidelines and Ordinance for the Historic Downtown
  • Wrote and Implemented Grant for Farmers Market Marketing and Development
  • Wrote and Implemented Grant for Ohio Historic Guidelines and Ordinance Program

  • Clean-up and Painting of the Historic Mithoff Hotel Storefront
  • Window Treatments and Decoration in the Historic Mithoff Hotel Storefront and the Old Mannequin’s Nightclub
  • Downtown Parking Study with Walker Inc.
  • Design, Purchase and Installation of Outdoor Information Kiosks in Downtown Lancaster SID, Design of Downtown Walking Map and Brochure (Spring 2009)
  • “Lunch Downtown” Weekly Radio Broadcast at Noon on Wednesdays 1320 AM

  • Clean-Up and Painting of Xmas Light Pole Decorations for Downtown
  • New Community Banners for Downtown-Rotary, Parks and Rec, Farmer’s Market
  • Marketing & Advertising Training for Downtown Businesses (Action Coach)
  • Training for Downtown Businesses to Capitalize on Walk Through Traffic for Special Events (Action Coach)
  • Window Decorating Contests for the Holidays
